Riverside School is one of over 100 elementary schools in the Waterloo Region District School Board and is one of 3 elementary schools in the town of Elmira. At the present time, there are approximately 400 students attending the school from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6. The original school was opened on October 29, 1962. A five classroom portapac was added in 1995.  In September 2017, we opened our new school at 250 William Street.  It is a 2-story facility with a double gym, beautiful library, and a lot more space to learn, play, and grow!

Riverside staff, students and parents work together to create a safe, secure and dynamic school environment.

Our staff is an energetic and dedicated team of educators who are committed to serving the needs of all the students in the school. They work together to provide students with a meaningful program based on the Ontario curriculum. All staff are interested in the well-being of students and meet them where they are at on their educational journey with the goal of moving them along in their educational pursuits.

Riverside is a HERO School!  We strive to use the HERO traits of Hope, Efficacy, Resiliency, and Optimism every day at Riverside.  Students take pride in the work they do and they show sensitivity and caring toward others. All students are proud to be Riverside Racoons!

Our School Council is an incredibly active group of parents who work tirelessly to support the school’s initiatives. School Council is a volunteer-based advisory body comprised of parents, school staff and administration. They work to organize a variety of special events throughout the school year that meet the needs and interests of Riverside families. School Council is keen to foster and develop a close knit school community where everyone is welcome and feels comfortable.
