Riverside staff (Ms. Lepp and Mrs. Soehner) have set up a Chickadee Feeding area along the Kissing Bridge Trail.  We are thankful to have received funding from the Elmira Lion’s Club and support from The Miller’s Stone in Heidelberg. We have installed a squirrel-proof feeder along with 3 platform feeders and a green bin full of seed with instructions for refilling. It is located near the outhouse and cedar hedge area of the trail, about 1/2 km West from the parking lot at the North end of Snyder Ave. It can also be accessed through the new subdivision on Kissing Bridge Drive that then follows the path around the stormwater pond and meets up with the main trail past the memorial shelter. We are hoping to create an area where Chickadees could be fed by hand. Walkers could help to keep the feeders full and to familiarize the Chickadees to trust humans and eat from their hands.
