Dear Riverside Families,

We are excited to welcome you to the 2022/23 school year, on Tuesday, September 6th. We look forward to greeting all our returning students and new students to Riverside. Due to the current issues with the School Board’s new operating system you will not be able to log into your School Day account to find out which class your child/ren are in for the 22/23 school year. We do apologize for this inconvenience but appreciate your patience and understanding.

Riverside staff feel that it is important for families to know who their child/rens’ teacher is over the weekend to help reduce any stress or family anxiety that might occur with not having this information. Kindergarten students at Riverside should have already received a Welcome to Kindergarten letter that indicates who their child’s teacher is.

Grade 1-6 teachers are currently working on creating a welcome email that will provide you with your child/rens classroom information. Welcome emails will be sent today, after 4pm to the family email we have on file. To ensure that we follow all confidentiality protocols and mandates you will not have access to the names of other students who will be in your child’s class. As you can probably imagine this is a large undertaking, we kindly ask that families do not send alternative email addresses or updated emails at this time. If the email we have on file is not up-to-date, or for some reason you do not receive an email from your child’s classroom teacher today, please do not worry and do not reach out to the school.

On Tuesday September 6th at 8:55, all Riverside staff will be outside on the school’s tarmac to greet students and assist any student who has not received notification as to who their teacher is or who are having difficulty finding their class line up. Staff will be wearing a duty vest so they will be visible to both parents and students.

  • Classroom teachers will have signs to indicate where their class lines up.
  • Teachers will have class lists to direct students to the correct class line up.
  • To limit congestion, we ask that only one parent/guardian come on school property for drop off.
  • Parents/guardians are asked to leave the property once your child/ren are with their classroom teacher.
  • Students bringing scooters or bikes must walk them while on school property.

For student safety there is no parking in the school parking lot, in front of the school or on the dead end road beside the school parking lot

Please visit our school website for more information about nutrition break times, expectations and our attendance website and phone number.

Riverside staff are very excited to welcome your child/ren on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 9:10, into our school to kick off the 22/23 school year.

Have a great weekend.

Mrs. Lynda Trudeau,

Principal,

Riverside Public School
